DEA helicopter sprays paraquat on three marijuana plots at Bullskin Ridge in Kentucky

United Press International reported that on 19 August 1983 a Drug Enforcement Administration helicopter sprayed paraquat on three small marijuana plots in the mountains of south-eastern Kentucky in under seven minutes. The plots measured 20 by 40 feet and held about 160 plants. Drug agents announced the result at a news conference in London, Kentucky, near the spraying site at Bullskin Ridge in the Redbird Purchase area. Two more helicopters carried government film crews. Nine other plots had been destroyed by hand the day before because spraying them was judged an environmental hazard.
