80's Durban Poison 2022 is a seed accession of the cannabis line that Khalifa Genetics sells under the name 80's Durban Poison. The company says that the line comes from the north coast of Durban in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, and that it was raised from seed kept since the 1980s.[1]

Collection Details

According to the company, its friend Ryan, a South African strain hunter, got old seed from his father's best friend, who had grown and sold Durban Poison in the 1980s. That man found old seeded buds in a storage area of his house and gave the seed, about 200 in all, to Ryan, knowing of his preservation work with the Love Of Landrace collective. The company says that the seed was then more than 30 years old: 20 seeds germinated and 13 seedlings emerged. It says that the line has never been crossed with a modern strain and differs from the Dutch Durban Poison.[1] ACE Seeds, which stocks the line, labels its seed a second-generation landrace (P2) "from the North coast of Durban, Kwazulu-Natal".[2]

Cultivation Details

The company says that the line comes from a very humid area and resists mould and pests. It recommends planting it in the ground in spring and puts its outdoor flowering time at 15 weeks.[1] ACE Seeds puts indoor flowering at 11 to 15 weeks and the outdoor harvest at the end of October or early November.[2]

Botanical Characteristics

The company describes tall, wide plants reaching 4 m, with branches that spread like a creeper and carry small foxtailing buds with a large cola at the top of each branch.[1]

Aroma

The company reports strong aromas of pepper with a hint of passion fruit during flowering.[1]

Effects

The company calls the effect long-lasting, creative and appetite-suppressing and reports a THC reading of 16%. It says that most users report clear-headedness and creativity with slight anxiety.[1]
