Grierson 2029a is a herbarium accession of a female plant of Cannabis sativa subsp. sativa collected among shrubs on a dry hillside by a stream above the town of Tashigang, now Trashigang, in eastern Bhutan, on 18 June 1979 by Andrew John Charles Grierson and David Geoffrey Long. Its label records two local names, Bango in Nepali and Phagpa Nam in eastern Bhutan. The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh holds the sheet as E00150666.[1][2]
Collection and locality
The typed Flora of Bhutan label gives the locality as Tashigang, stream above town with the coordinates 27° 19' 91°34', the habitat Amongst shrubs on dry hillside, the altitude c. 1340 m and the date 18 June 1979. It is signed Coll. A.J.C. Grierson & D.G. Long, number 2029a.[3] The catalogue gives the collectors, the number as 2029A and the date, and no locality.[1] The infobox stores the label's coordinates at two decimals.
Description and local names
The label describes a Herb 1-2 m, female plant and gives two names for it: Bango. marked (Nepali), and Phagpa Nam marked (E Bhutan).[3] Neither name is in the catalogue. The male plant of the same stand was pressed under the number 2029b: Grierson 2029b (1979).
Specimen and identification
The label and GBIF determine the plant as Cannabis sativa L. subsp. sativa.[3][2] Edinburgh publishes the sheet image under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike licence.[3]
