Elliot s.n., Northern Division is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa credited to Walter Elliot and dated 1852. Its label gives the habitat as the Northern Division.[1] The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh holds it as catalogue E00248823.[2] GBIF publishes it as occurrence 575173832.[3]
Collection and locality
The label is a printed form completed by hand. It is headed Madras Herb and reads Cannabis sativa, Hab. Northern Division, Coll. Honble W. Elliot and Date 1852. Its altitude line is blank.[1] The catalogue records the collector as Walter Elliot and the year as 1852, with no locality.[2][3]
Specimen and identification
The specimen is mounted on the left of a sheet it shares with Cleghorn s.n. (1859), which is catalogued separately as E00248824. A printed slip below the Elliot label reads Herb. H. F. C. Cleghorn. Presented by Major Sprot, 1896.[1]
The label names the plant Cannabis sativa. The catalogue records it as Cannabis sativa L.[1][2]
