Dobremez 2536 is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa collected in abandoned fields in western Nepal at 500 metres on 15 April 1974 by Jean-François Dobremez, with Narayan Prasad Manandhar. The place-name on the label is handwritten and is read here as Bheri. The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh holds the sheet as E00751458.[1][2]
Collection and locality
The sheet carries a printed Flore du Nepal form of the Université de Grenoble and Laboratoire de Botanique, filled in by hand. It gives the place as Lieu : Bheri, the latitude as 28°26', the longitude as 81°00', the altitude as 500 m and the date as 15.04.74. The collector is J.F. Dobremez, with the series number DBR NEP N° 2536, and a second hand adds N.P. Manandhar 74.165.[3] The catalogue gives Dobremez as the only collector, the number 2536 and the date 15 April 1974, with no locality.[1]
The label's latitude and longitude do not fit its other entries: at 28°26′ N, 81°00′ E the ground lies at about 144 metres, against the label's 500, and the point falls south of the border, in India. The infobox therefore stores no coordinate.
Habitat
The label's observation is champs abandonnés, abandoned fields.[3]
Specimen and identification
The label files the plant under Urticaceae and names it Cannabis sativa L.; the catalogue places it in Cannabaceae.[3][1] Edinburgh publishes the sheet image under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike licence.[3] Dobremez's earlier Nepalese sheet on this wiki is Dobremez 1796 (1973), a weed of the gardens of Kathmandu.
