Cretan General Population 1990 is a landrace cannabis accession collected in the mountains of Rethymno on Crete, Greece, in the early 1990s. The seed is held by Delicorganic, which supplied it to The Real Seed Company (RSC).[1][2]
Geography
The listings trace the seed to the mountainous region of Rethymno, at a latitude of about 35° N.[1][2] RSC describes the conditions there as summer days of 40 to 45 °C with strong winds at elevations of 400 to 500 metres.[1]
Collection Details
RSC states that the seeds were collected in the early 1990s and gives Delicorganic as the source of the seed.[1] The Kwik Seeds listing of the same line, on the shop RSC calls its other site,[3] gives the same.[2] Neither names the collector, the site below the mountains of Rethymno, or the farmer, and neither says how many generations the line has been grown since collection.[1][2]
Derived material
RSC sells an inbred line grown from this seed, 1990 RSC Cretan IBL, which it files among its heirlooms, a category it defines as inbred lines that have undergone generations of selective inbreeding in the West.[4] The description of those plants is on that page.
