Coco Genes describes the material as growing wild: "these regions have never been explored by any landrace collectors before[;] grown among wild patches adjacent to shola forests these plants can survive in very humid, moist and wet climates as well as in extreme hot days."[1] The listing also describes a traditional curing practice: "the plants are cured traditionally for up to four months before the first tasting ceremony which is witnessed by the entire family."[1] No collection date or collector is stated.
