Evidentiary scope

This accession is no longer sold, so the article rests on the versions of the two listings that offered it, on the two announcements of May 2022 that named it, and on two later statements in which RSC identifies photographs as this accession. Kwik Seeds is the shop RSC calls its other site (RSC, Hemp & Multipurpose). The listings place the line in the highlands of Bolikhamsai, date the sourcing to 2022, and name no district, village or farmer. The account of cultivation along the Mekong is RSC's and has not been checked against other sources; the article attributes it. No conservation priority is entered: see below. Georeferencing

The listings name only Bolikhamsai and give a latitude of about 18° N. The coordinate is the label point of Bolikhamsai Province in OpenStreetMap (relation 5831655), rounded to two decimal places: 18.58, 104.15, in Viengthong District, the same point the other Bolikhamsai accessions carry (see Talk:RSC-LAO-BOL-0120230001). Editorial treatment

• Accession ID. RSC-LAO-BOL-0120220001: BOL for Bolikhamsai Province, taken from this listing's own text and not from the later lots that shared its address; month 01 because no month is given; serial 0001 as the first 2022 accession from the province, checked free through the API before minting. Bokeo #2 and Central Lao, announced the same day, are 2022 accessions of other provinces and do not collide.
• Descriptive name. Highland Lao #4 General Population 2022, the collection form <Line> <Accession type> <Year> set by the naming convention reference, §8B.
• Collector. Angus, as on the other accessions RSC sourced itself.
• Height. 2 to 4 metres, given identically by both shops in every version that offered this lot.
• Vocabulary mapping. "Sativa-type architecture" is entered as growth pattern Christmas tree, the provisional RSC convention discussed on Talk:RSC-LAO-CHA-0120240001.
• Conventions. Photoperiod Short-day and introgression Minimal follow the other RSC accessions; neither listing states them.
• Not entered. No leaf shape: unlike Highland Lao #5, this listing does not describe the leaflets. No harvest window: the listings give only a six-month cycle, not a month range for this accession. No sample_harvest_date: the grow-outs RSC photographed are dated only by the month the caption gives.
• Seed storage. The Real Seed Company, as on the sibling pages. The listings stopped offering this lot and no source says whether RSC still holds seed of it, although the photographs of 2025 and 2026 show it was grown on after the listing changed.
• Places left unlinked. California, where RSC says the 2026 plants were grown, following the treatment of Hawaii and Oregon in the earlier RSC batches: the grow-out site is not a documentation target. Same population, and why nothing is asserted

RSC wrote on this listing, from July 2022 until the sentence was dropped, that "The number '4' indicates that this is a distinct accession from a new source". That is evidence against treating this accession as the same population as the other Highland Lao lots, so same_population_accessions is left empty and the siblings are linked only in See Also, as the Highland Lao pages already link each other. No source states that #4, #5, #6 and #7 sample one population; they share a province, a latitude and a listing name, which is not the same claim.

For the same reason nothing is asserted about the earlier Highland Lao listing that RSC ran at the sibling address /product/highland-lao-landrace-strain-cannabis-seeds/ from December 2019 to March 2024, sourced "Winter 2019" and collected, in RSC's words, from Lao farmers in Bolikhamsai who cultivate for the Thai market. Conservation priority

Not rated. This accession is no longer offered and no rating was made for it in the review of 17 September 2026, which covered the pages then live. The field is left blank rather than inheriting the High carried by the Highland Lao #5, #6 and #7 pages, because those ratings rest on the regional pressures recorded on Talk:RSC-LAO-CHA-0120240001 and Talk:RSC-LAO-VIE-0120220001 and on statements made about those lots, not about this one. Source discrepancies

• "From farmers". RSC: "A new accession from a crucial centre of production of 'Thai' ganja". Kwik Seeds: "A new accession from farmers in a crucial centre of production". The article uses the fuller Kwik Seeds wording and attributes it.
• History. RSC: cultivation "grew rapidly through the 80s". Kwik Seeds: "through the 70s and 80s".
• Genetics line. RSC read "Traditional Lao – Thai Ganja Domesticate ('Landrace')" to March 2023 and "Lao – Thai Cannabis Landrace" from October 2023. Kwik Seeds keeps the first form.
• The "number 4" sentence. RSC carried it from 3 July 2022 to 25 May 2024 and had dropped it by 14 July 2024. Kwik Seeds carried it from 29 June 2022 to 26 September 2023 and had dropped it by 14 July 2024. Both dropped the two paragraphs on why farms could not be visited and on terroir at the same time.

Archived versions

The Wayback Machine holds 11 versions of the RSC address and 12 of the Kwik Seeds address; all were read, and the page titles were read from the HTML as well as the descriptions, because the rename is what dates the change of lot.

• RSC. Titled Highland Lao #4 in the versions of 3 July 2022, 8 December 2022, 28 March 2023, 1 October 2023, 25 May 2024 and 14 July 2024, all with the 2022 sourcing. Titled Highland Lao #6 from 25 January 2025, with the 2024 sourcing.
• Kwik Seeds. Titled Highland Lao #4 in the versions of 29 June 2022, 8 December 2022, 8 June 2023, 26 September 2023, 14 July 2024 and 5 December 2024, all with the 2022 sourcing. Titled Highland Lao #6 from 19 March 2025.

So both shops still offered this lot in July 2024, Kwik Seeds into December 2024, and the changeover to the 2024 collection is first seen in January 2025 on RSC and March 2025 on Kwik Seeds. The article does not date the last day of sale, which no source gives.

The photograph changed before the rename, not with it: the versions of 25 May 2024 and earlier show highland-lao-4-thai-stick-landrace-seeds.jpg, and the version of 14 July 2024, still titled Highland Lao #4 with the 2022 sourcing, already shows quicksquarenew_202122614431468.jpg, the photograph RSC-LAO-BOL-0120240001 now uses. Talk:RSC-LAO-BOL-0120240001 dates that photograph's arrival to January 2025, which is when the page was first archived under the #6 name; it was there six months earlier under this one. Four photographs are attributed to this accession by RSC itself, and three are used.

• Infobox, RSC Highland Lao 4 1.jpg. The photograph RSC put on its Highland Lao #7 listing in May 2025, captioned "The photo shows our Highland Lao #4 accession from Bolkihamsai outdoors in mid-July at 40° N". It is in all four archived versions of that listing, from 12 June 2025 to 21 April 2026, and Kwik Seeds still carries it on its own #7 listing; RSC replaced its copy on 16 September 2026 (see Talk:RSC-LAO-BOL-0120250001). The caption names this accession and no other, so the photograph is used here rather than there. The plants are an ex situ grow-out at 40° N, not a Bolikhamsai field, and the caption says so.
• Gallery, RSC Highland Lao 4 2.jpg. The photograph both listings carried while they offered this lot, filed as highland-lao-4-thai-stick-landrace-seeds. It shows seed, not plants. Neither shop captioned it.
• Gallery, RSC Highland Lao 4 3.jpg and RSC Highland Lao 4 4.jpg. Two of the four photographs in RSC's post of 7 July 2026, under the sentence "The images are from one of our Bolikhamsai accessions (Highland Lao #4) outdoors in California".
• Not used. The fourth photograph in that post, uploads/2026/07/Highland-Lao.jpg, is the same file RSC put on its Highland Lao #7 listing on 16 September 2026 under the caption "The photo shows an inflorescence of our Highland Lao #7 accession from Bolkihamsai outdoors in California". RSC therefore gives the same photograph to two accessions two months apart, and the wiki does not choose between them: see the propagation note below. The first photograph in the post, a garden with a large tree and raised beds, is not used either, because what it shows cannot be made out.

Propagation: the photograph on RSC-LAO-BOL-0120250001

RSC-LAO-BOL-0120250001 carries RSC Highland Lao 7 1.jpg in its infobox, uploaded on 17 September 2026 from RSC's Highland Lao #7 listing with the caption RSC then gave it. That file is uploads/2026/07/Highland-Lao.jpg, the photograph RSC had published ten weeks earlier, on 7 July 2026, as Highland Lao #4 grown outdoors in California. Nothing in either statement says which is right, and the two are not reconcilable from the sources.

The same note is on Talk:RSC-LAO-BOL-0120250001. Neither the #7 page's caption nor its Talk Photographs section is changed: both rest on the later of the two RSC captions, and which one to follow is a ruling rather than a drafting decision. Éloise 06:30, 18 September 2026 (+07)

Photograph conflict: documented on both pages

Éloïse ruled on 18 September 2026 that accessions listed by companies other than Zomia are documented, not harmonised. The earlier treatment here, which kept RSC Highland Lao 7 1.jpg off this page because RSC gives it to two accessions, is withdrawn. The photograph is now in this page's gallery, captioned with what RSC's post of 7 July 2026 says (Highland Lao #4, grown outdoors in California) and with what RSC's Highland Lao #7 listing now says (Highland Lao #7). The article states both, cited, and flags the conflict with {{disputed}}, which links here and files the page in Category:Unresolved disputes. RSC-LAO-BOL-0120250001 carries the same flag.
