Kashmiri General Population 2020 is a landrace cannabis accession collected in 2020 in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan, and listed as Kashmiri in the seed catalogue of The Real Seed Company (RSC).^[1] RSC describes the seed it sells as newly produced from an ex situ maintenance grow of this collection; that seed is recorded at 2020 RSC Kashmiri Reproduction.^[1] The Real Seed Company lists the line, currently out of stock, on its Kwik Seeds site (checked 17 October 2026).^[2]

The listing gives the sourcing as Landrace Genetics, Azad Kashmir, Pakistan (2020), and a latitude of about 33° N.^[1]

History

An RSC blog post of June 2023, published because seed of a Kashmiri landrace had become available, reports that Kashmiri cannabis earned a legendary reputation among Westerners in the heyday of the Hippie Trail, mostly for the dry-sieved and hand-rubbed charas travellers found in the Kashmir Valley.^[3] According to the post, Kashmir was historically less a producer than an intermediary in the charas trade between Central Asia and northern India. It describes caravans bringing charas from Xinjiang over the passes of the Karakoram via Ladakh, then on to the plains through Srinagar and the Kullu Valley. The post calls Kashmir today a relatively minor player in cannabis production.^[3]
