Muang Sing is a cannabis growing area in Luang Namtha Province, Laos, drawn on Sing District. It is part of the Northern Laos growing region. Two seed companies sell a line, Lao Highland, whose seed they say was collected in northern Laos in 2014; one of them places its origin at Muang Sing.[1]
Seed line
Khalifa Genetics sells the line as Lao Highland. It calls it a sativa landrace of northern Laos, from the borderlands of Laos, Myanmar and China, grown by Akha people for generations. The company writes that the breeder Bodhi collected the seed at source in 2014, on a trip through Yunnan and northern Laos, and that a preservation project with Mitseedco later improved the line's sexual stability under indoor growing. It suggests that Akha people may have brought seed from Yunnan into northern Laos when they left China in the early 20th century.[2] ACE Seeds, which sells seed of the same line, repeats this account and describes its own seed as a third-generation (P3) open-pollinated sativa from Muang Sing.[1] The Khalifa Genetics seed is the accession KHA-LAO-LNA-0120140001.
