Siberian Ruderalis 2019 is a seed accession of the autoflowering cannabis line that Khalifa Genetics sells under the name Siberian Ruderalis. The company calls it a hardy ruderalis from the southern Ural region and says that villagers near Lake Chebarkul, in Chelyabinsk Oblast, Russia, use these semi-wild plants to make a high-CBD charas.[1]
Geography
The company suggests that the population probably comes from a past hybridisation between landraces from neighbouring Kazakhstan and the local ruderal plants, which it says would explain the pungent citrus smell, the heavy trichome production and the mild psychoactivity of most plants. It says that January temperatures average −21 °C there and that the plants grow wild in rocky soil.[1]
Collection Details
Khalifa Genetics writes: "Our friend “Guardian of the Lost Terps”, a member of the “Russian Landrace Bureau” handpicked the seeds (The first generation) directly at source." It says that the seed on sale is the result of four generations of controlled open pollination, aimed at fewer weak plants and hermaphrodites while keeping high genetic diversity.[1] ACE Seeds, which stocks the line in regular and feminised seed, labels it a fourth-generation ruderalis landrace (P4) "from Cherbakul (Russia), open pollinated indoors to increase the sexual stability".[2]
Cultivation Details
The company says that the plants start flowering on their own two to three weeks after germination and are very light feeders, sensitive to nutrient burn. The seeds have a thick, waterproof shell, and it recommends cold treatment or cracking them before sowing.[1] ACE Seeds puts the whole cycle indoors at 9 to 12 weeks from seed to harvest and the outdoor harvest between mid-July and mid-August.[2]
Botanical Characteristics
The company says that the plants keep growing while they flower, to 120 to 190 cm, and that more than a quarter turn mauve or purple near the end of flowering.[1]
Aroma
ACE Seeds lists citrus, sweet, floral, pine and spicy notes.[2]
