Discussion

Identifier

The accession identifier is KHA-RUS-CHE-0120190001, built to the wiki's naming convention: holder, ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 country, province segment, month, year, sequence.

  • Holder segment KHA stands for Khalifa Genetics.
  • Province segment CHE is for Chelyabinsk Oblast, in which Lake Chebarkul lies. The listings name the lake and the town ("Cherbakul" in ACE's spelling), not the oblast; the oblast is a gazetteer fact.
  • Year 2019 is the year of the earliest dated document found that lists the line: Khalifa Genetics' own product page, whose page data gives a publication date of 12 December 2019; the same date is in the Wayback Machine's earliest capture of the page, of 22 September 2020 (https://web.archive.org/web/20200922111732/https://khalifagenetics.com/product/siberian-ruderalis/). No source gives a collection year, so, as for other vendor accessions without one, the identifier takes the first attested year. It is a lower bound, not a collection date, and moves if an earlier listing is found.
  • Month 01 is the placeholder used when the year comes from first attestation.

Sourcing

Khalifa Genetics' own product page (https://khalifagenetics.com/product/siberian-ruderalis/), read live on 12 October 2026 and in Wayback Machine captures of 22 September 2020 (the earliest) and 6 March 2026 (the latest, whose description matches the live page). The collection sentence is the same in both.

ACE Seeds' English listings of the regular seed (https://www.aceseeds.org/en/seeds/siberian-ruderalis-regular-seeds/, cited) and of the feminised seed (https://www.aceseeds.org/en/seeds/siberian-ruderalis-feminized-seeds/), read live on 12 October 2026; their specification tables are identical. One accession covers both formats, which the sellers present as one line. ACE Seeds stocks the line and its listing reproduces much of Khalifa Genetics' text. Its specification table (Type and Genetics rows, flowering times, bouquet) is ACE's own and is cited to ACE.

Every statement about the line is the company's account of its stock and is attributed to it. "Guardian of the Lost Terps" is a pseudonym and is not entered as collector.

Typing

  • Classification: Feral. The company calls the source plants semi-wild and says that they grow wild in rocky soil near Lake Chebarkul, where villagers use them; it says that the first generation of seed was handpicked "directly at source". The plants grew outside cultivation. The accession is classified Feral, by inference from the company's account; the company's suggestion of a past cross with landraces from Kazakhstan is its own and does not bear on the class. The account has not been checked against other sources. An earlier version of this note classified the line as Other, on the ground that a vendor listing does not establish the class of the source population.
  • Sourcing type: Unknown provenance. The chain of custody from the source population to the seed on sale is the company's account and no other source records it.
  • Accession type is left empty. The company describes four generations of its own reproduction and ACE labels the seed P4, but no source names a documented parent collection. The Russian Landrace Bureau's only accession on this wiki is a Kazakh ruderalis (RLB-KAZ-JAM-0120190001), not this line.
  • Photoperiod response: Day-neutral, for the sellers' "autoflowering": the company says that the plants flower two to three weeks after germination whatever the light.
  • Cultivation status: Unknown. The company's page offered seed on 12 October 2026 (marked in stock). That says nothing about whether the source population is still grown.
  • Traits. Heights (120 to 190 cm, entered in metres) and the cannabinoid figures are the company's; aroma and effects are ACE's. No flowering time is entered: the sellers give a seed-to-harvest cycle, not a flowering period.

Source discrepancies

  • Generations. The earliest capture of the company's page (22 September 2020): "These seeds are the result of 3 generations of controlled open pollination". The live page and ACE: four (P4). The article follows the live page.
  • Spelling. The company writes "Lake Chebarkul" and, once, "Cherbakul"; ACE writes "Cherbakul".

Seller text not used

The page's statements that Central Asia is "likely to be the place were cannabis was domesticated for the very first time, over 14 000 years ago" and on germination rates are seller copy and are not used.

Photographs

The 3 photographs on this page come from the image gallery of Khalifa Genetics' own listing for the line, as it stood on 12 October 2026, and were retrieved from the Wayback Machine's copies of the same files; each file page gives the source file and the capture. The listing carries no captions and credits no photographer. The captions here describe only what each photograph shows. The listing gives no date, place or grower for any photograph, so the pictures illustrate the line as the seller presents it and are not collection documentation. They are used under a fair-use rationale.

Georeferencing

The point 54.96, 60.32 is the middle of Lake Chebarkul, OpenStreetMap relation 1692091 (water=lake, 17 km²), inside its outline. The company says that the plants are used by "villagers near Lake Chebarkul" and ACE says that the line is "from Cherbakul"; the middle of the town of Chebarkul (relation 10185422) is about 3 km north-east of the point. It is an area point for the lake and its shores, not the place the seed was gathered. Basis: district point. Uncertainty: about 10 km.

Conservation priority

Not rated. The listing gives nothing about the size or status of a source population.
