About 11 hectares of marijuana were eradicated in Ibagué between September 2010 and January 2020, in nine entries of the Ministry of Defence's open data; the largest, in January 2016, is of four hectares.[1] A bulletin of the Centre for Regional Studies of the University of Tolima found that Ibagué accounted for 14.2 per cent of the 64.75 hectares of marijuana eradicated by hand in Tolima in 2015–2020.[2]: 14, 16

Cannabis is also licensed in Ibagué for medicinal growing. Between 2017 and May 2018 the Ministry of Justice issued seven licences to four companies to grow cannabis for medical and scientific purposes in Ibagué, Piedras, Saldaña and Fresno.[3]
