2009 ATA Swazi Red IBL is a seed accession of ATAO Genetics' line of Swazi Red, a cannabis line of Afropips recorded at Swazi Red 2009. ATAO's listing calls it "A rooibaard preservation P6 of Afropip's Swazi Red since 2011 from multiple parents".[1] Afropips' description, which ATAO quotes, places the line's breeder in Swaziland, now Eswatini.[2]
Cultivation Details
In February 2023 ATAO wrote that it had preserved the line in 2011 with eight female plants and one male, and had harvested an F5 the year before with help from another grower's F3.[2] Hemp Depot listed the F5 by May 2023.[3] ATAO began harvesting the next generation, which it labels P6, in July 2025, and has written that the line was grown from several parents, open-pollinated, in every generation.[4][5] According to ATAO, most of the line descends from a few mother plants with a cola scent, chosen in the second generation, so that the scent now dominates.[6] In September 2026 it reported the P6 sold out and a P7 planned for 2027.[7]
Botanical Characteristics
The listing calls Swazi Red "This old South African blue green line" and describes two types of plant, tall and lance-shaped or branching. It gives an indoor flowering time of 12 to 16 weeks, the earlier plants being the more resinous, and says that about 10% of the line shows "polyploidy (Whorled Phylotaxy)", with three or, rarely, four leaves at a node from the seedling stage.[1] ATAO's post of 2023 gives 12 to 14 weeks for the rarer black and red type and 14 to 16 weeks for the branchier gold and green type.[2]
Aroma
The listing describes a spicy, metallic, dark smoke, a mother plant with a cola aroma, and gold plants with a better floral taste.[1]
Effects
According to the listing, the effects are energetic and trippy and increase with activity. It compares the strongest plants to a stimulant and warns that they can cause heart or mind trouble in a smoker who stays inactive; the gold plants are said to give cleaner effects.[1]
