Swazi Red 2009 is a seed accession of Swazi Red, a cannabis line that Afropips listed among the pure African lines on its website by April 2009.[1] The business's description calls it "Swazi roolbaard from the top swazi breeder in nkomati region of swaziland", now Eswatini, and a "pure african landrace sativa".[2]
History
According to the business, roolbaard is Afrikaans for "red beard", a name the line owes to its red pistils. It says that many South Africans enjoy the line.[2] In 2009 the business wrote that its hybrid Power Malawi was "Very similar to the Swazi Red size & structure with heavier buds".[3]
In February 2023 the Overgrow member Roms opened a thread headed "Swazi Red (Afropips)" with the business's description. Roms wrote of having preserved the line in 2011 from eight female plants and one male, and of having shared the seed with friends "from Africa to California".[4] Roms's line, sold by ATAO Genetics, has its own accession, 2009 ATA Swazi Red IBL.
Botanical Characteristics
The business calls the line high-yielding and resinous. It says that the buds are compact and very sticky and can grow to the size of an adult's forearm.[2]
Aroma
The description compares the smell to a fine cigar and calls the smoke earthy.[2]
Effects
The business describes a strong natural high, energetic and clear.[2]
