Yang 113 is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa collected on Xiaowutai Shan (小五台山), then in the province of Chahar and now in Hebei, China, in 1935 by 楊承元 (Yang Chengyuan) and 李祖桂 (Li Zugui). The Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing holds the sheet as PE 00557907[1].
Collection and locality
A printed tag, mounted upside down on the sheet, reads 察哈爾小五台山 (Chahar, Xiaowutai Shan), 民國廿四年 (year 24 of the Republic, 1935) and 楊承元 李祖桂 採 (collected by Yang Chengyuan and Li Zugui). A determination slip carries the number No. 113. The sheet gives no day, no altitude and no place on the mountain.[2] The catalogue gives the two collectors, the number 35993, the year 1935 and Hebei.[1] Liu Ying 10878 (1935) was gathered on the same massif in August of the same year.
Specimen and identification
The sheet carries a tall, nearly bare stem with open branching, scattered small flowers and a few leafy shoots; the plant is fragmentary, but its leaflets are narrow and serrate. The slip names it Cannabis sativa L., determined by K. C. Kuan in 1939.[2] The Chinese Virtual Herbarium publishes its sheet images under a non-commercial, no-derivatives licence (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0); they are read and cited here, not reproduced.
