Identifier

The accession identifier is RSC-IND-UTT-0120190001, built from the holder, the ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 country, the province segment, the month, the year and the sequence number.

  • Province segment UTT is for Uttarakhand, in which Kumaon lies, as on RSC-IND-UTT-0120240002.
  • Year 2019 is the harvest in the sourcing line. The month digits are 01 because no month is given.
  • Sequence 0001. It is the only RSC accession for this province segment and year.

Sourcing

The eight versions of RSC's Nanda Devi listing in the Wayback Machine from November 2019 to January 2022, and the listing at the same address as it stood on 27 October 2026. %(kn)s

Lots at this listing

The listing's address has carried three lots under the title Nanda Devi:

  • "Personally collected at source in Kumaon" in November 2019, and "The Real Seed Company, Kumaon Himalaya, 2019 Harvest" from August 2020 to January 2022 (eight versions): this page;
  • "Kumaon Himalaya, 2021 Harvest", July 2022 to January 2025 (nine versions): RSC-IND-UTT-0120210001;
  • "Kumaon Himalaya, India (Winter 2024)", from May 2025 (four versions): RSC-IND-UTT-0120240002.

The November 2019 version gives no year. Its description is that of the versions from August 2020 except for the height, the genetics line and the notes on germination added later, so it is taken to sell the same lot, the 2019 harvest. The listing's terpene and cannabinoid profile of "a standout specimen grown outdoors in Spain", on it from November 2019, does not say which seed the plant grew from, so the article does not report it.

Typing

  • Classification: Landrace, sourcing type Point of Origin, autochtonous Yes: the listing describes a strain that farmers in particular villages grow for charas, and seed "personally collected at source".
  • Division. Kumaon, from the listing's "Kumaon", as on RSC-IND-UTT-0120240002.
  • Collector. Angus, as on the other accessions whose sourcing line reads "The Real Seed Company".
  • Height. Minimum 2 metres; the maximum is left empty, as the listing gave 4 metres in November 2019 and 5 metres from August 2020.
  • Processing. Charas, with the hand-rubbed and braided charas the listing describes in the notes.
  • Seed viability is left empty: the germination rates the listing reports are a grower's results, not a test of the lot.
  • Conventions. Photoperiod Short-day and introgression Minimal follow the other RSC accessions; the listing states neither.

Georeferencing

No point is given. The listing names Kumaon and places the villages "to the east of the Nanda Devi Sanctuary". It names no village or district, and a direction from the sanctuary is not a place. Kumaon is an administrative division made up of several districts, too large an area for one point to say where the seed was gathered.

Source discrepancies

  • Height. RSC, November 2019: "2 – 4 metres outdoors". RSC, from August 2020: "2 – 5 metres outdoors".
  • Genetics line. RSC, November 2019: "Pure Himalayan Landrace Strain". From August 2020: "Himalayan Landrace (Intermediate)", with the classification "C. sativa subsp. indica var. himalayensis x C. sativa subsp. indica var. indica"; from April 2021, "Himalayan Domesticate (Intermediate 'Landrace')".
