Sources
- Indian Hemp Drugs Commission, vol. I, ch. VIII, para. 429, p. 158, is cited from the page image, where the word reads purnathi.
- Chopra and Chopra (1957) is cited from the UNODC web edition, which carries no page numbers. The ingredient names are given as they print them. Kurva, pattai and surat avari are not glossed because they give no gloss.
Title and spelling
- The title follows the Chopras' purnadhi, the source that gives the ingredients. Purnathi is the commission's spelling for a Madras hemp sweetmeat of the same class and is a redirect. Neither source says outright that the two names are one preparation; they are linked by name and province.
Is it cannabis?
- The Chopras list ganja first among its ingredients and give its share as one-eighth.
Kind and plant part
- Sweet. The commission says these sweetmeats were all thought aphrodisiac, "some to such a degree that they should perhaps be regarded as medicinal forms". The kind stays a sweet because neither source describes a medical use for this one.
- Flower: ganja.
- Still made: not known from the sources cited.
