Sources
- The Pharmacopoeia of the United States of America, fifth decennial revision (Philadelphia: Lippincott, 1873), the Wellcome Collection scan (b21080501, the same scan as Internet Archive pharmacopoeiaofu00phil): title page and verso, the proceedings of the convention, the preface, pp. 23, 135, 303, the lists of changes on pp. 344 and 350, and the index.
Names
- The pharmacopoeia's tincture is Tinctura Cannabis, "Tincture of Hemp", though it is made from the extract of Indian hemp. King's American Dispensatory (1898) lists "Tinctura cannabis (U. S. P., 1870)" among the synonyms of tincture of Indian hemp.
