Mimbar Rakyat (article of 11 September 2026) reports the statement of the head of the North Sumatra provincial office of the National Narcotics Agency as given on "Jumat (11/9/2026) pagi" (in English: Friday 11 September 2026, morning). The report dates the operation itself: surveillance began "Pada tanggal 19 Agustus 2026 sekitar pukul 20.00 WIB" (in English: on 19 August 2026 at about 20.00 WIB), the motorcycle was sighted "pada tanggal 20 Agustus 2026 sekitar pukul 01.45 WIB" (on 20 August 2026 at about 01.45 WIB), and the two men fell into a ditch at "Sekitar pukul 02.40 WIB" (at about 02.40 WIB). The stored date is 20 August 2026, three weeks before the report.
Attribution
The account of how the man was shot comes from the agency's statement. Mimbar Rakyat quotes the agency head: "Saat dilakukan pengejaran dan upaya penghentian, kedua pelaku melakukan perlawanan menggunakan senjata tajam serta berupaya melarikan diri" (in English: during the chase and the attempt to stop them, the two men resisted with sharp weapons and tried to escape). It adds that one of the men "mengalami luka tembak dan dibawa ke Rumah Sakit terdekat" (suffered a gunshot wound and was taken to the nearest hospital) and "saat tiba di RS nyawa tersangka ZI tak tertolong" (on arrival at the hospital the suspect's life could not be saved). tvOne News (article of 14 September 2026) gives a shorter version: one man "tewas terkena timah panas petugas karena mencoba kabur dengan melawan petugas" (died from officers' bullets because he tried to flee by resisting officers). Neither report carries an account from anyone outside the agency.
