Narcotics agency recovers 15.3 kg of cannabis in East Panyabungan; one of two men dies of a gunshot wound

Mimbar Rakyat reported that the head of the North Sumatra provincial office of the National Narcotics Agency (BNNP Sumut) said at a press briefing on 11 September 2026 that a team from the agency's Mandailing Natal office, watching a route used for cannabis transactions in Desa Padang Laru, East Panyabungan, saw two men on a motorcycle at about 01.45 on 20 August 2026 and followed them when they returned towards Panyabungan with a large bundle. According to the agency, the two men resisted with bladed weapons and tried to flee, and officers took what it called firm and measured action before the men fell into a ditch on Jalan Desa Darussalam at about 02.40. Officers recovered 16 packages of cannabis weighing 15,332.65 grams and detained both men. The agency said one of them had a gunshot wound and died on arrival at a hospital. tvOne News reported the same case at a briefing on 14 September.
