Narcotics officers posing as pedicab drivers seize 126 kg of cannabis in Langkat and Deli Serdang

Media Indonesia reported that officers of the North Sumatra provincial office of the National Narcotics Agency, acting on information about a consignment moving from Gayo Lues regency in Aceh to Besitang in Langkat, disguised themselves as motorised pedicab drivers and intercepted a pedicab carrying about 19.8 kilogrammes of cannabis at Kebun Lada in Hinai district in Langkat on 3 September 2026. A follow up raid on a suspected storage house at Pekan Besitang recovered five large sacks and a further bag of cannabis together with manual and electric scales, a bladed weapon and a telephone, and the occupant of the house escaped. Two men who were to receive the consignment were arrested the same evening at Hamparan Perak in Deli Serdang. The agency said the total secured across the network was 126 kilogrammes of cannabis and three suspects. The head of the provincial office is Brigadier General Tatar Nugroho.
