Page scope
Achinsk forest-steppe is a Growing Area: a named area that sits below the Krasnoyarsk Krai growing region. It covers the island forest-steppe round Achinsk and Bogotol in the west of Krasnoyarsk Krai: the wild hemp of its roadsides, villages and farms, and the hemp that overgrows its fallow and sown fields.

Discussion

Why the area is on the map

  • Flora: Antipova (2012) records hemp often in all five local floras of the Achinsk forest-steppe (Vagino, Novaya Elovka, Zertsaly, Malyi Kosul, Chaikovsky), abundant in places and forming thickets. Her entry is one statement for the three island forest-steppes together, so it does not set Achinsk apart from the other two.
  • Rosselkhoznadzor, a separate kind of source: 151.5 hectares in Achinsky District in 2017 (through АиФ Красноярск); 183 hectares in Achinsky and 100 in Bogotolsky in the first half of summer 2025; 165.3 and 100.0 hectares in June 2026; Achinsky, Bogotolsky and Sharypovsky okrugs had the largest areas the inspectorate found in the krai in 2026. What sets the area apart is these repeated figures on the same two districts.
  • Police: the Achinsk police issued orders to local officials over wild hemp in 2026 (Запад24).

The name

"Achinsk forest-steppe" (Ачинская лесостепь, also Ачинско-Боготольская, the Achinsk–Bogotol forest-steppe) is the name Antipova (2012) uses; the Great Soviet Encyclopedia names the Achinsk forest-steppe among the island forest-steppes of the krai.

Growing status

The status is Active. Wild hemp is reported in the area in 2017, 2025 and 2026. The sources describe wild and weedy hemp only: by roads and villages, on fallow land, and in sown fields, among them a crop of peas. No source says hemp is sown there.

How the border is drawn

  • The border is a proxy drawn on Achinsky and Bogotolsky districts as they were before the krai merged its districts into larger okrugs, with the towns of Achinsk and Bogotol (OpenStreetMap relations 1149989, 1149758, 1153175 and 3429521, as of June 2022).
  • Antipova (2012) puts most of the forest-steppe's 5,000 km² in Bogotolsky and Achinsky districts, with part of the south of Bolsheuluysky District. The two districts with their towns cover about 5,650 km². The south of Bolsheuluysky District, where one of the five local floras (Novaya Elovka) lies, stays in the Krasnoyarsk Krai growing region.
  • The inspectorate's figures are given by these districts and okrugs, and they meet the flora on them.
  • The infobox point (56.26, 90.07) is the centre of the shape.
  • The border is not drawn from accession or news points.
  • The map line leaves out ground above 4,000 m (SRTM elevation) and land that ESA WorldCover 2021 maps as bare or sparse vegetation, permanent snow and ice, or open water at its outer edge only, and leaves out lakes of 500 km² or more. Rivers and the reservoirs on them are inside the line.

Accessions

No accession is attached to the area.

  • A police report of 2025 (Запад24, 1 September 2025) of a man who gathered a sack of hemp near the village of Maly Uluy in Achinsky District. It does not say whether the plants were wild.
