Singh 48 is an accession record for a pressed herbarium specimen of Cannabis sativa collected by U. Singh at Dehra Dun, United Provinces, in 1928. The locality is now generally written Dehradun and lies in Dehradun District, Uttarakhand, India.[1] The New York Botanical Garden holds the sheet as catalogue 1414441.[2] GBIF publishes it as occurrence 1928007078.[3]
Collection and locality
The collection label is headed Herbarium, California Botanical Garden, Plants of India and records Dehra Dun, United Provinces, collection number 48, U. Singh and the year 1928.[4] Current district sources identify Dehra Dun as the earlier form of the city and district name Dehradun.[1]
Specimen and identification
The sheet mounts a fruiting plant and carries the name Cannabis sativa L.[4] In August 1975, Ernest Small determined it as Cannabis sativa subsp. indica var. kafiristanica (Vavilov) E.Small & Cronquist, the name under which GBIF publishes the occurrence.[4][3]
