Shimizu T-11518 is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa collected on Phu Rom Rot, a peak of Phu Miang in Phitsanulok Province, Thailand, on 3 October 1967. T. Shimizu collected it with five colleagues on the Kyoto University Botanical Expedition to Thailand. The Naturalis Biodiversity Center holds a sheet as catalogue L.1592635[1], published by GBIF as preserved specimen occurrence 2513887934.[2] The Forest Herbarium (BKF) in Bangkok holds a second sheet as accession BKF 61684, barcode SN 009250.[3]
Collection and locality
Both sheets carry the printed label Flora of Thailand, Kyoto University Botanical Expedition to Thailand, 1967, in co-operation with the Royal Forest Department, Bangkok.[4][5] It gives the locality as Phitsanulok: Phu Rom Rot, one of the peaks of Phu Miang, 1200–1600 m alt. and the date as October 3, 1967. It names the collectors as T. Shimizu, K. Iwatsuki, N. Fukuoka, M. Hutoh, D. Chaiglom & A. Nalampoon under the number T 11518.[4]
Field observations
The label describes the plant as a Herb 2 m tall, growing In grassy place by road in open place.[4]
Specimen and identification
The printed label names the plant Cannabis sp.[5] The Forest Herbarium catalogues its sheet under that name.[3] On the Leiden sheet sp. is struck through and sativa written in.[4] Naturalis catalogues the plant as Cannabis sativa L.[1] The Forest Herbarium sheet is annotated Cannabidaceae.[5]
