Ojascastro 063d is an accession of hemp fibre, kept in a small glass jar, collected at Pà Cò, in Mai Châu, northern Vietnam, on 31 October 2022 by James Ojascastro. The Missouri Botanical Garden holds it under the barcode MO-2423693.[1][2] A tag tied to the jar reads Hemp fibers.
Collection and locality
The fibre was collected in Pà Cò Commune, Mai Châu District, in Hòa Bình province, at 1,230 m.[2][1] The garden's Tropicos database dates the collection 31 October to 1 November 2022; GBIF dates it 31 October 2022.[2][1] Hòa Bình province has formed part of Phú Thọ Province since 2025.
The jar and its tag
The garden's photograph, by Carolina Romero, shows loose, pale brown fibre packed into a small glass jar with a white screw lid. A paper tag tied to the neck of the jar reads Hemp fibers and, on the line below, phloem, with the number #06925; a paper strip inside the jar carries the same number.[3] 06925 is the garden's accession number for the object. Tropicos classes it as an ethnobotanical artifact, under the keywords Biocultural Collection Review and Ethnobotany.[2] Ojascastro determined the material as Cannabis sativa L. in 2022.[2]
Gathering 063
The collector's number 063 covers four objects from the same place and date, lettered a to d.[1] 063a is paper, determined as Maclurochloa tonkinensis, with a tag reading Hmong bamboo paper.[4][5] 063b and 063c are further objects determined as Cannabis sativa, with no published image.[6][7]
