Police seize 1,245 cannabis plants grown among cotton and arrest a father and son near Jainoor

Telangana Today reported that Kumuram Bheem Asifabad district police arrested a farmer and his son on 14 September 2026 after 1,245 cannabis plants were found growing as an intercrop in the family's cotton field. Police said the father had been stopped with 11 grams of ganja at a vehicle check in Jainoor on the night of 13 September and had admitted growing the crop with his son's help. Telangana Today placed the field at Nagolkonda village, while Namasthe Telangana placed the case within the limits of Jainoor police station. The plants were seized with their roots and carried out of the valley by officers, and police valued them at about 1.5 crore rupees. Superintendent of Police Nitika Pant said the investigation would look into the source of the seeds and how the crop was being sold.
