Hong Kong Customs find about 535 kg of suspected cannabis buds in a container from Thailand at Kwai Chung and arrest three

Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department said in a press release that on 2 September its officers inspected a 40-foot container, declared as carrying insulated boxes and arriving from Thailand, at the Kwai Chung Customhouse Cargo Examination Compound. It reported that 364 of the 1,342 boxes concealed about 535 kg of suspected cannabis buds in vacuum bags, which it called its largest seaborne drug trafficking case and valued at an estimated HK$125 million. After controlled delivery operations, two local men and a Vietnamese man were arrested on 17 September; the Vietnamese man was charged with attempting to traffic in a dangerous drug.
