825 kg of cannabis seized from a trailer at Voi, Taita-Taveta

Detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit based in Mombasa and Voi, working with officers from Voi Police Station, intercepted a Scania truck and trailer within Voi township and recovered 11 gunny bags holding 825 kg of cannabis. Police estimated the street value at approximately KSh 24.7 million. The truck driver Fredrick Otieno Ogode and an alleged accomplice, Edwin Ochieng Otieno, were arrested at the scene and taken into custody together with the truck and the recovered cannabis pending arraignment. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations said the interception followed an intelligence-led operation. Investigations into the consignment's source and intended destination continued.
