Passenger vehicle search at Lumakanda junction yields 100 kg of cannabis, Kakamega

Officers from Lumakanda Police Station stopped a public service vehicle at Lumakanda junction in Kakamega County and arrested a passenger whose luggage held 100 kg of cannabis, with an estimated street value of KSh 3 million. Police said the roadblock had been mounted after information that traffickers were moving drugs across the region by public transport. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations said its "specialized teams remain permanently deployed across major highway transit corridors" and described the case as part of a trend of traffickers attempting to blend into public service vehicles. The suspect was held at Lumakanda Police Station pending arraignment. The cannabis was secured as evidence.
