Fiji Police destroy 47,397 cannabis plants in four operations in Cakaudrove
On 4 June 2026 the Fiji Police Force reported that four coordinated operations in the Northern Division had destroyed 47,397 cannabis plants with an estimated value of FJ$47.39 million. The figures were presented to district representatives at the Cakaudrove Provincial Council meeting. The first operation destroyed 13,007 plants, the second 20,226, the third 1,332 and the fourth 12,832. Police reported 77 arrests, 23 during farm raids and 54 at roadblocks. Items seized at roadblocks included 44 sachets of dried cannabis leaves, 54 portions of loose dried leaves, 17 live rounds of ammunition and FJ$4,000 in cash, believed to be proceeds of crime. The report identified the 'Golden Triangle' as a key focus of operations. The area spans the districts of Tunuloa, Natewa, Cakaudrove Vanua, Navatu and Naweni. Police said operations remained ongoing and were focused on Salia Village, Nailou, Manuasi, Devon Kanakana and parts of Navonu. In Labasa, four people were arrested in connection with methamphetamine-related offences. Three had been charged and one case remained pending laboratory analysis.
