Guangdong police intercept a cargo vessel at sea and seize 735 kg of cannabis on a South China Sea route

Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department reported intercepting a cargo vessel at sea and seizing 735 kg of cannabis, in an operation conducted with Guangzhou Border Inspection and the South China Sea Bureau of the China Coast Guard, coordinated by the Ministry of Public Security Narcotics Bureau. Police described the consignment as moving on a smuggling route from Southeast Asia across the South China Sea. The case was announced on 22 June 2026.
