Police destroy ₱9M worth of marijuana at five Tinglayan plantation sites, Kalinga

Joint operatives of the Kalinga Police Provincial Office and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Kalinga office destroyed five cannabis plantation sites across four barangays in Tinglayan, Kalinga on 24 December 2025. Approximately 45,000 fully grown plants with a reported standard drug price of ₱9 million were uprooted at sites in Barangays Loccong, Buscalan, Butbut Proper, and Tulgao East. The operation was conducted by the 2nd Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Company, the Tinglayan, Tanudan, Balbalan, and Rizal municipal police stations, and the Kalinga Provincial Drug Enforcement and Intelligence Units. The raid was reported alongside same-day operations in Benguet as part of continuing Police Regional Office Cordillera Administrative Region eradication activity during the 2025 holiday season. PNP Acting Chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said operations would continue through the holidays given the harm illegal drugs cause to families and communities, framing the effort under the "Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas" agenda of strengthened enforcement and community trust.
