Rabi administrator requests police raids over growing cannabis use

Rabi Island administrator Iakoba Karutake has written to the Fiji Police Force requesting a team be deployed to conduct raids on the island, citing worsening cannabis use and cultivation. Karutake said no methamphetamine had been reported on the island and major crime remained low. He has met repeatedly with local police about the problem and called on church leaders, village elders and parents to discourage drug use as part of a community-wide response.
