Boxirhat police seize 575 kg of ganja concealed under tomatoes at the Sankosh bridge

Uttarbanga Sambad reported that police of the Joraie outpost of Boxirhat police station stopped a pickup van loaded with tomatoes during checkpoint searching on the Assam and Bengal boundary, and recovered 575 kg of ganja concealed behind the load. The paper said the vehicle was stopped at night in the Sankosh bridge area of Rampur 1 gram panchayat in Tufanganj 2 block, and that the search took a long time. The driver was named in the report as arrested and given as a resident of Uttar Pradesh. Police told the paper that after initial investigation the consignment was understood to be moving from Guwahati towards Bihar, and that questioning had begun to trace the organiser.
