Boxirhat police seize 93 kg 400 g of ganja from a pickup van at the Sankosh bridge checkpoint

Uttarbanga Sambad reported that Boxirhat police seized 93 kg 400 g of ganja from a hidden compartment in a pickup van during checkpoint searching. The paper said the seizure was made at the checkpoint beside the Sankosh bridge in Rampur 1 gram panchayat of Tufanganj 2 block, on the route from Assam into Bengal, and that 16 packets were recovered. Two men were named in the report as arrested, one from Bihar and one from Uttar Pradesh. Police told the paper the initial view was that the consignment was being taken from Rangiya in Assam towards Bihar, and put the market value at about 9 lakh rupees. Police also told the paper that traffickers use the districts along the north Bengal boundary as a corridor, which is a police account.
