National Narcotics Control Commission publishes the 2018 China Drug Situation Report, recording a 25.1 per cent rise in cannabis users

The National Narcotics Control Commission Office released its annual drug situation report for 2018 at a press conference. It gives 24,000 registered cannabis users nationally, a rise of 25.1 per cent year on year, attributed mainly to foreign nationals in China, people with overseas study or work experience and figures in the entertainment industry. The report records 125 cases of cannabis entering via international mail through Guangzhou, Shanghai and Chengdu, with 55 kg seized. It also states that some domestic offenders were learning cultivation technique from foreign websites and sourcing seed through illegal channels to grow and sell inside China.
