Kastamonu Bazaar General Population 1936 is a historical seed accession of Cannabis sativa that the United States Department of Agriculture received from Kastamonu, in northern Turkey, on 12 January 1937 and numbered plant introduction (PI) 120497.[1] No seed of the lot survives. The National Plant Germplasm System, whose database carries the department's introductions, says the accession "no longer exists and can not be requested".[1]
The lot
H. L. Westover and F. L. Wellman of the Bureau of Plant Industry collected seed in Turkey in 1936. In the department's printed inventory this lot is their number 3179, from the Kastamonu bazaar, 14 October 1936, received on 12 January 1937.[2] Westover had bought hemp seed at the same market two years earlier, with C. R. Enlow (NPG-TUR-KAS-1019340001).[3]
