Burmese General Population 2022 is a seed accession of cannabis grown in Luang Namtha Province, Laos, from seed of a landrace of Shan State, Myanmar, held by the U.S. National Plant Germplasm System (NPGS) as G 33693. Angus donated the seed, and the system received it on 22 August 2023.[1] The donor's note says the seed was collected in the winter of 2022 in Luang Namtha Province.[1]
Collection Details
According to the note, the line comes from Shan State, an ethnically Tai region of Burma. Its seed was collected there by a cannabis enthusiast from Laos, who was taken with the ganja of Burma and brought seed home to grow; the passport places this lot in Luang Namtha. The note gives the purpose as ganja, either seedless flower heads or very lightly seeded ones, and says that in Laos and Burma ganja is smoked mixed with tobacco or added to dishes such as chicken soup. It describes narrow-leafleted plants with resinous, aromatic flower heads, taking about six months from seed to harvest, and calls the strongest of them very potent.[1]
