Martin 1864 is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa collected at Ban Xay Fong near Vientiane, Laos, in May 1973. The Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle holds the sheet as P06884316,[1] and the Economic Botany herbarium at Harvard holds a duplicate as ECON 00449838.[2] The label gives a Lao name and two uses.

The handwritten label gives Lieu: Ban Xay Fong, Prov.: (près Vientiane), Pays: Laos and Date: 5/73.[3] The catalogue gives the locality as Bon Xay Fong, près Vientiane.[1]
Recorded local name and use
The label gives Nom vernac.: Kan Xa Hua nok khao. Under Observ. et Usages it records aliment and médecine et alimentation?, with the label's own question mark.[3] Harvard's catalogue entry for the duplicate gives the remarks as medecine et alimentation.[2]
Cultivation observation
The label gives the vegetation and soil as cultivée and the biological type as Herbe dure.[3] The catalogue repeats Cultivée.[1]
Specimen and identification
The sheet carries a single stem with a red tag numbered 4984. The label names the family Cannabinaceae and the plant Cannabis, and notes fleur disséquée = ♀ (a dissected flower), female.[3] The catalogue records Cannabis sativa L., determined by Querido.[1] Harvard files its duplicate under Cannabis sativa subsp. indica (Lamarck) E. Small & Cronquist.[2]
