Mameev 144 is a herbarium accession of male plants of Cannabis sativa gathered on the slope of a ravine beyond the Maly Tsarev Gorodishche near Tyumen, in today's Tyumen Oblast, Russia, on 4 July 1915 by S. Mameev. The Moscow University Herbarium holds the sheet, a duplicate from the herbarium of the Botanical Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences in Leningrad, as MW0062815.[1]
Collection and locality
The label is a printed form of the Гербарий Ботанического института Академии наук СССР (Herbarium of the Botanical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR), marked Дублет (duplicate), with a second printed slip Ex Herb. Inst. Bot. Ac. Sc. URSS. It is completed by hand Cannabis sativa L., По склону лога за Малым Царевым Городищем у г. Тюмени. (on the slope of a ravine beyond the Maly Tsarev Gorodishche, near the town of Tyumen), the date 1915 VII 4, the number N 144 and fl. ♂ (flowering, male), and is signed as collected and determined by С. Мамеев.[2] The printer's line at its foot dates the form to May 1960: the label was written out on it decades after the gathering, from an original label that is not on the sheet. The catalogue gives the collector, the number, the date, the locality and a point.[1]
Specimen and identification
The sheet carries three leafy stems with large palmate leaves and male flowers, one of them with its roots, and an empty paper envelope.[2] The label names the plant Cannabis sativa L., the name under which the catalogue files it; no later determination slip is on the sheet.[2][1]
