Lecomte s.n., Coumby is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa gathered by H. Lecomte at the village of Coumby, in what was then French Congo, in December 1893. Its label names the plant Liamba, one of the diamba set of names for cannabis, and calls it Chanvre indigène (native hemp). The Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle in Paris holds the sheet as P06829895 and files it under the Republic of the Congo.[1][2]
Collection and locality
The collector's label is a printed form of the Société d'Études & d'Exploitation du Congo Français (a company for the study and exploitation of French Congo), headed Collections recueillies par Mr Henri Lecomte. It reads, by hand, Liamba., Chanvre indigène, Village de Coumby. and Xbre 93 (December 1893).[3] The catalogue gives the locality Village Coumby and the month December 1893.[2]
Specimen and identification
The sheet holds one branched stem with narrow leaves, twisted in drying.[3] The museum's label names the plant Cannabis sativa L., and the catalogue files it under that name.[2]
