Kung 730 is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa collected at Tiehling (Tieling), in Liaoning (then also called Fengtien), China, at 150 m on 22 July 1930 by H. W. Kung. The Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing holds the sheet as PE 00557884[1].
Collection and locality
The field label, a typed Flora of China form, gives the number K.730, the date 22/7/1930, the locality Tiehling, Fengtien, the altitude 150m., the family Moraceae and the collector H.W.Kung. A second label, of the Herbarium Academiae Nationalis Pekinensis (the herbarium of the National Academy of Peiping), repeats the place and date and reads Leg. H.W.Kung (730). Det. W.Y.Hsia.[2] The catalogue gives the collector, number, year and Liaoning.[1]
Specimen and identification
The sheet carries a large male plant with palmate leaves of narrow, serrate leaflets and a drooping branched panicle, and a paper packet marked 730, glued to the sheet.[2] Both labels name it Cannabis sativa, the second as determined by W. Y. Hsia.[2] The Chinese Virtual Herbarium publishes its sheet images under a non-commercial, no-derivatives licence (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0); they are read and cited here, not reproduced.
