Kali Valley is a landrace cannabis growing area in Pithoragarh District, Uttarakhand, India, in the Western Himalayas growing region. Its eight accessions come from four settlements in Dharchula Block along the Kali river, between 1,900 and 2,740 m, and seven of them are feral.

Geography

Three of the four settlements are at 1,900 m: Jumma, and Pangla and Bung Bung, which share one point. The fourth, Budhi, lies about 22 km to the north-east at 2,740 m and has five of the eight accessions.

Cultivation

Seven of the accessions are feral selections and one, the general population from Jumma, is landrace. The feral selections are one each from Pangla and Bung Bung and five from Budhi, three of them named "Feral Military Selection". In this the valley differs from the Darma Valley and the Pindar Valley, where the landrace accessions outnumber the feral ones.

The populations reproduce by themselves and are also sown from seed kept from locally grown flower, in intercropped, semi-feral and monoculture plots. The accessions give a planting season of May and June, a harvest from September to November and a short-day habit. Others in the region also grow the crop.

Isabella and Roy collected seed for all eight between 12 and 17 September 2025, on the UTT01 expedition. Seven samples are from the 2025 harvest and the Jumma sample from 2024.
