Shashamane Sativa 2021 is a seed accession of the cannabis line that East Africa Genes sells under the name Shashamane Sativa, named for the town of Shashamane in central Ethiopia. The seller calls it one of the best landrace sativas in Africa.[1] The line has been on the seller's catalogue since January 2021.[2]
Geography
History
The catalogue says the line's potency and flavours closely resemble those of Lamb's Bread, a Jamaican line.[1] The March 2020 post asks whether Rastafari settlers from Jamaica, who came to Shashamane after 1955, brought Lamb's Bread seed with them, and leaves the answer to the reader: "You be the judge."[3] In a 2022 post the seller wrote that it first smoked the line in Nairobi in 2013, that it buys a pound or two of it every month, and that it grew it from selected seed that year.[4] In 2026 it called the line "My favorite strain since 2018".[5]
