Burtt 6211 is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa gathered by B. D. Burtt in the Mporoto Mountains, then in Mbeya District, at about 7,000 feet, on 18 October 1936. The place is in today's Mbeya Region, Tanzania. Meise Botanic Garden holds the sheet as BR0000014662591; it came from the herbarium of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.[1][2]
Collection and locality
The label is headed Ex Herbario Kewensi. (from the Kew herbarium). It is printed Tanganyika Territory. and B. D. Burtt No. and typed Cannabis sativa L., Mbeya Distr. Mporoto Mts., 7000 ft. (about 2,130 metres), 6211. and 18.10.1936. The sheet is marked Acc. 1938.[3] The catalogue gives the same number, place and date.[2]
Specimen and identification
The sheet holds a single dense stem crowded with narrow-leafleted leaves.[3] The label names the plant Cannabis sativa L., and the catalogue files it under the same name.[2]
