Anon. s.n. (1907) is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa from Japan, from the herbarium of the Yokohama Nursery Company, dated September 1907 and labelled with the Japanese name asa. It names no place within Japan and no collector. The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh holds the sheet as E01459323.[1]
Collection and locality
The label is a printed form headed Herb. The Yokohama Nursery Co., Ltd. Yokohama, Japan., with lines for a number, the plant's name, its Japanese name, the locality and the date. On this sheet it is completed by hand Cannabis sativa L., Asa and Sept. 1907; the number and the locality are left blank.[2] The heading names the nursery's herbarium and its address in Yokohama, not the place the plant was gathered. The garden's catalogue gives the name and Japan, with no date, place or collector.[1] A second sheet from the same herbarium, of August 1908, names Tokyo: Anon. s.n., Tokyo (1908).
Specimen and identification
The sheet carries one leafy branch with large palmate leaves and a few flowering clusters.[2] The name Cannabis sativa L. is written on the label without a determiner's name; the catalogue files the sheet under the same name.[1]
