Watt 13958 is an accession record for a pressed herbarium specimen of Cannabis sativa collected by Dr Cooke at Suni on the Sutlej, in what is now Shimla District, Himachal Pradesh, India, in November 1890. The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh holds the sheet as catalogue E00248818.[1] GBIF publishes it as preserved specimen occurrence 575339852.[2]
Label and attribution
The mounted label reads Colld by Dr. Cooke. At Seeni on the Sutlej. Nov 1890. 3000 feet and carries Field No. 13958 above Herb. G. Watt.[3] The page title follows the Watt-number form used for the herbarium series, but the label attributes the collection to Dr Cooke. It gives no initials or other information that securely identifies him. GBIF instead records George Watt as the collector, reproducing the herbarium association rather than the attribution written on the sheet.[2]
Locality
The label's Seeni on the Sutlej matches Suni in the former Bhajji State. The Punjab States Gazetteer describes Suni as the state's capital on the Sutlej, about 24 miles from Simla, and places the Bhajji State on the river's south bank.[4] A botanical handbook published in 1902 likewise uses Suni, Sutlej valley as a collection locality.[5]
The recorded altitude of 3,000 feet converts to 914 m and is stored in the infobox.

The sheet preserves a flowering cannabis plant determined as Cannabis sativa L.[1]
