Sekong (also Xekong) is a cannabis growing area in Sekong Province, Laos, drawn on the province. It is part of the Southern Laos growing region and holds one appellation, Dak Cheung.
Geography
The Sekong River runs through the province and on south into Cambodia. The land is mountainous and rises to the Dak Cheung plateau. The province borders Vietnam to the east, and its other neighbours are Salavan Province, Champasak Province and Attapeu Province. Its four districts are Lamam, Kaleum, Dak Cheung and Thateng. Fourteen ethnic groups of the Mon-Khmer language family live in the province, of whom the Katu and the Talieng are the largest.[1]
Cultivation
The Landrace Team, a seed company, sells a line it calls "Laos landrace ganja" from Dak Cheung district, obtained from a private donor. It gives the region's harvest as running from late November through February.[2]
