The Bolaven Plateau is an upland in southern Laos, in the Southern Laos growing region. It lies east of Pakse, between the Mekong and the western foothills of the southern Annamite Range. The plateau is a basalt upland at about 1,100 metres, rising on its northern and southern rims to peaks of 1,583 and 932 metres. The south-west monsoon, from June to November, brings it more than 4,000 millimetres of rain a year. Its inhabitants include the Loven and other Lao Theung (Mon-Khmer) peoples. Coffee and cardamom are grown there for export.[1]
